HAMPTON, Va. (November 24, 2020) – Hampton University School of Pharmacy Assistant Professor, Dr. Khalida Amini has been awarded the Virginia Society of Health-System Pharmacist (VSHP) Award.

Dr. Amini is an Assistant Professor at the Hampton University School of Pharmacy (HUSOP) specializing in clinical pharmacy practice. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy from Georgia State University and graduated Rho Chi from our very own HUSOP. Dr. Amini completed her PGY-1 Residency at Riverside Health System and worked as a Clinical Pharmacist before joining the faculty at Hampton University in 2017. In addition to didactic teaching, she is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) and serves as an Internal Medicine Clinical Preceptor to fourth-year pharmacy students.
Dr. Amini has been a member of VHSP since 2013 as a student pharmacist and since graduating in 2015, she has served VSHP in many capacities. “In my current role as an Assistant Professor, I have served as the student advisor for the chapter, promoting membership, VSHP annual meeting attendance and active involvement in the organization,” said Dr. Amini. “As a preceptor to the fourth-year pharmacy students, I have guided them on how to properly write a clinical article and successfully publish it. My students and I have submitted and published three clinical articles in the VSHP Newsletters. I have also coordinated the Local Clinical Skills Competition for the School of Pharmacy and served as the judge for the VSHP Clinical Skills Competition in the last four years. In this role, I have guided the students on how to better navigate a case study, manage time appropriately, help with the oral presentation, and answer questions.”
In addition, Dr. Amini has served on the VSHP Education Committee as a member since January 2019 and her latest service to the organization is her presentation of the clinical peer session at the VSHP 2020 Spring Seminar.
