HAMPTON, Va. (November 24, 2020) – Adrian Allen, a Hampton University junior and 2018 cohort of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Jordan Wings Scholarship program was recently featured in an interview about education, the importance of attending an HBCU, voting and more on the Air Jordan website.

Allen, a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native, is a first generation college student studying criminal justice with hopes to become a contract or public interest lawyer. As a student at Hampton University, Allen serves as the Social Media Chair for the HU Pre-Law Society and is the Belonging Chair for the Student Government Association.
“I’ve chosen these areas of law, because I will be able to help make an impact my community. Public interest law covers a broad range of issues that can help marginalized groups and that’s my goal. I was one of those marginalized kids growing up. Without the community programs I was in, I wouldn’t have been able to attend college,” said Allen. “With contract law, I want to help people of color understand what they’re reading when signing an agreement. I just want to help people, that’s why law is so important to me.”
The Jordan Brand Wings Scholars Program provides students from disadvantaged areas with full-ride scholarships to college. Beginning in 2015, over 1,800 students have been funded in North American and Great Chine. Each student is awarded a full ride to their four-year university and receive a series of resources throughout their studies including one-on-one mentorship and internship opportunities. Ultimately, Wings is dedicated to supporting Jordan Brand’s core consumers and aims to positively impact the educational lives of young people in the same way the brand has done so through Michael Jordan’s aspirational story.
“I feel excited about being featured with Jordan Brand because it gives me a chance to really show people what needs to be done in our community. I was able to tell my story about growing up in Philadelphia and my journey to receiving this scholarship. It gives me the opportunity to show people that they are able to make it too,” said Allen.
