HAMPTON, Va. (August 12, 2020) – The Hampton University James T. George School of Business is excited to announce the partnership with Barron’s in Education, which will offer students, faculty, and staff digital subscriptions to Barron’s online content and other experiential learning opportunities. Morgan Stanley has graciously provided sponsorship for this program. Barron’s is America’s premier financial magazine, which provides in-depth analysis and commentary on the markets, updated every business day online.
“It is an honor to partner with Barron’s in Education to provide our students, faculty and staff additional real-world insight into investment topics and global market trends,” said Hampton University President, Dr. William R. Harvey. “We are also grateful for Morgan Stanley’s continued partnership and generosity to help provide a pipeline for minority students who are interested in the financial market industry.”
In addition to the digital subscription, Hampton students will gain resources that connect them with a real-world environment that is updated weekly. This will also allow faculty to discuss current trends with students and will give them an inside look at the financial market.
“We are excited to partner with industry leaders such as Barron’s and Morgan Stanley. We welcome the opportunity to expose our students to the broad practical aspects of business,” said Dr. Ziette Hayes, Dean of the James T. George School of Business. “The holistic approach of combining experiential and theoretical learning, while also supporting faculty in the learning process, is what makes this a unique opportunity.”
Barron’s Group, a publishing unit within Dow Jones that houses Barron’s, MarketWatch and Financial News (UK), announced its Barron’s in Education program in 2018 and is now partnering with schools nationally with resources to improve students’ financial proficiency. Currently, more than 85 universities and colleges are partnered with Barron’s, three of which are HBCUs.
“We are so pleased to bring the Barron’s in Education Program to the James T. George School of Business at Hampton University with support from Morgan Stanley,” said Joe Lanza, Director of Financial Education at Barron’s Group. “All students and faculty will have access to Barron’s digital content along with experiential learning elements designed to help promote financial proficiency for the next generation of business leaders.”
Morgan Stanley, a leading global financial services firm that provides investment banking, securities, investment management and wealth management services, has been a longtime supporter and partner with Hampton University. “Morgan Stanley has a longstanding commitment to cultivating the next generation of business leaders. We value our partnership with Hampton University and deepening our relationship through this program will further prepare the dynamic business students to lead well into the future across any industry,” said Raymone Jackson, National Diversity Officer with Morgan Stanley Wealth Management.
Barron’s in Education also allows students the opportunity to become Barron Student Ambassadors. Business students who are interested in becoming Ambassadors can contact the James T. George School of Business at 757-727-5472.
